OUR HISTORY

Virginia Cortes experienced the devastating loss of a child. The experience of making final arrangements, the unplanned expense, trying to find proper burial clothing, and making emotional decisions, all while going through the grieving process was overwhelming. It was through this personal awakening that Sunshine State Angel Gowns was born. Her child's passing became a catalyst for comfort to thousands of grieving family members throughout Florida. It is often through our own brokenness that God finds a way to transform the world.

Many wonderful partners have come along to join the work since then. Many of them have been through a similar experience of loss. Many are those who are compassionately sympathetic to this great need.

Sunshine State Angel Gown partners come from many religious and political backgrounds. We are grateful for the diverse team effort that has allowed the project to bring healing to so many families struggling with a loss.
